The Founder

My name is Lena Marie, I am 29 years old and I live in London. I was born in Dusseldorf, Germany, 21st May 1995. I am the founder of SKINCHÀ. This brand is the outcome of my passion for beauty and wellbeing and my mission to bring a first class spa-experience into every person's home - enabling you to be your most powerful and beautiful self.

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

Since I can remember, I've always loved beauty.

Out of all the girlie things, I've always been much more into beauty than fashion (unlike most of my friends). The reason for that is that I believe our own body, face and skin are the most beautiful thing to wear and it's lasting us a whole lifetime. When our skin is healthy and glowing, our make-up and hair is on point and we just look so well taken care of and perfectly groomed, you can really wear any clothing - it truly doesn't matter.

I love doing my skincare and it's a fixed part of my daily, weekly or even monthly routine. It's a commitment with myself, it's me-time. Doing my skincare feels like an at-home-spa treatment to me and on busy days this time in the morning and evening in our bathrooms is really the only chance we have to check in with ourselves and to set the tone for a productive, happy day or to unwind before bed. To me this is the time to relax, to rethink, to look back at the achievements we've made throughout the day and to set future intentions.

My passion for beauty was highly influenced by my mum who has always been working in the beauty industry and from a young age I've been taught the importance of daily SPF, weekly exfoliation as well as face steaming and masks. Well, these are the very basics of skincare. The beauty industry is developing quickly and I love to see that. There's always something new on the market and I like adding new products to my skincare portfolio to level up my skincare routine.

A COMMITMENT TO OURSELVES

Not only do I enjoy taking time for my skincare, I also feel like the older we got the more serious we should be about our skincare routine. Why are we always so on time and so reliable when it comes to business appointments and commitments we have with others, but not with ourselves? While I was skipping taking off my make-up in my early twenties after a long night out, I would now never ever skip my nighttime routine - no matter how much wine I've had and no matter how much I wish to just fall into bed and sleep. We should be serious about our skin and put in effort to keep it glowy and fresh at any age. It does matter. Looking and feeling good does matter.

Taking a rest, taking time to treat yourself well is not an actual break. This is a crutial part of you being the best version of yourself, being more happy and confident and in return doing good to the world and to everyone around you. 

Living in today's fast paced environment, with each of us carrying our individual ambitions and dreams we often forget to rest, take a step back and proudly value ourselves, our body, face and lastly our skin that has always been with us and that will accompany us through our amazing future.

HOW OUR LOOKS INFLUENCE OUR LIVES

I can tell from far, just by checking someone's skin condition, if that person is being stressed, happy, unhappy, healthy or not healthy etc. I can also tell the level of self respect, love and affection a person is giving to himself/herself. The way you look and the way you look after yourself truly determines how you navigate through life and it also impacts the way we get perceived by others. It's just so true. In the end of the day, we should never forget that confidence and simply feeling good in our own skin is the key to the greatest success in life, the best situations, outcomes and most important: happiness. Our own wellbeing is truly underestimated when it comes to our achievements, reaching our goals and attracting all the positive things we desire into our life. Yes, it's that easy.
